IT'S THE LAW

ALL EMPLOYEES COVERED UNDER THE HOURS OF SERVICE LAW (E.G., TRAIN AND ENGINE EMPLOYEES, DISPATCHERS, AND SIGNAL EMPLOYEES) ARE REQUIRED TO BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE DOT AND FRA FEDERAL REGULATIONS AND PROCEDURES FOR DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING (49 CFR PARTS 40 AND 219). TESTING IS PART OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF ALL SAFETY-SENSITIVE RAIL EMPLOYEES. TESTING FOR DRUGS REQUIRES A URINE SPECIMEN. TESTING FOR ALCOHOL USES A BREATHALYZER OR A SALIVA SWAB (BLOOD IS TAKEN FOR FRA POST-ACCIDENT TESTING ONLY).

IMPLEMENTING AND MAINTAINING COMPLIANCE

UPIC LABS CAN ASSIST RAIL EMPLOYERS IN DEVELOPING AND IMPLEMENTING COMPLIANT DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING PROGRAMS FOR THEIR EMPLOYEES BASED ON FRA AND DOT RULES.

UPIC LABS CAN EXPLAIN THE ELEMENTS OF A COMPLIANT PROGRAM AND PROVIDE A DOT COMPLIANCE MANUAL WITH DOCUMENTS, CHECKLISTS, FORMS, AND PROCEDURES THAT CAN BE USED TO GUIDE YOUR SYSTEM MANAGERS IN FORMULATING AND MAINTAINING REQUIRED PROGRAMS.
